Saturday Morning Cartoon Club

East Side Mags' Saturday Morning Cartoon Club is a weekly drawing class and has been successfully working with kids of all ages (5 - 17) in helping them hone and develop drawing skills for over 10 years! With three different classes for three different age groups, there is a class for every student filled with hand-on learning, fun and friendships!

Our Saturday Morning Cartoon Club is a fun, safe and educational environment where every student is respected for who they are and their individual skills. We encourage kids to be themselves and find out more about themselves through their art. Lasting friendships are also found in class every week!

Our classes take place inside - you guessed it - a COMIC SHOP in Montclair, NJ. East Side Mags makes full use of the event space in the back of the shop, open for the public to see, where tables are set up with as many chairs as needed to accommodate our ever growing classes. There is a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall that is sometimes used for demonstrations. There are also 2 "whiteboards" used to track "Golden Nuggies" and another board where a ton of the current students artwork is up for display.

East Side Mags takes safety and health seriously by generally prohibiting food during class due to the possibility of allergies although exceptions can be made if communicated in advance so we can establish what's safe to bring in (cupcakes for a birthday, etc.). While classes take place in the back of the shop, it's an open floor plan where customers can see what's going on but naturally provided a "divide" of sorts between the sales floor and the area where the kids are drawing. Brigid and her team are always present to supervise along with East Side Mags staff.
